About HLM Horses
HLM Horses began with a joy and a dream to inspire more people to find out how valuable good horsemanship is to both horse and rider. We focus on teaching soft feel, perfect timing in release of pressure and developing a balanced seat. Marissa Howe started HLM Horses in March of 2017. Her goal is to make sure every horse develops a partnership with their rider or owner. Once the horseman opens up that partnership the possibilities are endless. Some horses carry baggage around with them. Marissa focuses on getting to the root of the problem and helps the horse work through that baggage with natural horsemanship and confidence building techniques. Each horse has a story, every rider has a responsibility whether you choose to accept it or not. HLM Horses wants to help you tap into that wonderful thing that we all call "horsemanship".
Location
Located in Loveland, Colorado, our Facility is still in the construction process at this time. It will be fully functioning spring of 2018. Our facility will offer a round pen, fenced in arena and also an area for our lesson horses to get out of the elements. We do have parking near the horses so that you can park fairly close to where your lessons will be held. If you are planning on Marissa working with your own horses she will travel to your home for training sessions.
About Marissa
Marissa Howe
Riding instructor and Trainer
- Marissa Howe grew up in Flagstaff, Arizona where her passion for horses became her dream. At the very early age of 13, Marissa got her first horse Babe. She was able to show Babe in western pleasure, barrels, poles, and road trails all over Northern, Arizona. As she grew older she worked for world champion mule trainers Rod and Connie Lara. Her joy for developing horsemanship skills increased when they helped her work with her high energy mare India. In Summer of 2014, Marissa moved to Castle Rock, Colorado. She developed more horsemanship skills when she worked for the Denver Dumb Friends League; Harmony Equine Center. There she learned that each horse no matter their past has value and potential just like another horse. She also picked up lots of skills handling rescue horses. In Summer 2016, Marissa moved to northern Colorado where she interned for GLG Performance Horses. There, Marissa helped care for several reining horses and also road many broke and green broke horses. Marissa has since owned 3 horses. Each were either green or had a few emotional kinks to iron out and fix. Her joy and passion is to give lessons to beginner and indeterminate riders and she also enjoys working with your horses whether its getting them legged up and safe for you to ride or their first ride.
